Subject: Iraq: Urge Congress to Support Cindy Sheehan - FCNL

Thousands of people have joined Cindy Sheehan, the mother of Army
Specialist Casey Sheehan who was killed in Iraq, in her vigil outside
the president's ranch in Crawford, Texas. Cindy, other military
families, and the Crawford Peace House are protesting the deaths of
Casey, other U.S. soldiers, and tens of thousands of Iraqis in the Iraq
war and calling on the president to end the war in Iraq.

The Crawford Peace House, which was founded by Quakers in Texas, has
asked FCNL to provide tools to help supporters of Cindy to quickly send
messages to the president and to their elected representatives. They
have asked us to help translate the protest in Texas into political
action in Washington that can change the course of U.S. policy toward
Iraq.

ACT NOW

In five minutes, you can use the FCNL web site to send letters to the
president,to your senators, and to your representative supporting Cindy
and calling for an end to the war in Iraq. Please edit the sample
letters we provide to include your own words, thoughts, and
experiences. Personalized letters have a much greater impact with
elected officials than form letters.

1. Write a letter to President Bush urging him to meet with Cindy
Sheehan, because you share her concerns:

2. Write to your senators. Tell them you support Cindy and her call for
an end to the war in Iraq. Tell them you want them to offer amendments
to the military authorization and to the military spending bills coming
before the Senate in September or later declaring that the U.S. will
bring US troops home:

3. Urge your representative to support legislation currently before the
House of Representatives that would make it U.S. policy to bring US
troops home from Iraq:

BACKGROUND

Thousands of people have joined Cindy Sheehan, other military families,
and the Crawford Peace House in a vigil outside the president's ranch
in Crawford, Texas. Cindy is demanding a meeting with the president
so he can tell her why her son died and she can tell him why she wants
an end to the war in Iraq. The vigil has touched a nerve in this
country, provoking tens of thousands of people to express their
support, resulting in thousands of stories in newspapers and on
television, and even leading Time Magazine to publish a long article by
Cindy this week.
