Dear Rich,
I really enjoy listening to your program each Sunday night. I'm 68 years
old and it makes me feel young because so many of the recordings were done
before I was born. And I've always liked old songs.
I did, however, have a problem this week with a song you played. I think it
is called, "America, you're OK". Perhaps you played it in a patriotic mood
to honor the casualities of the Sept. 11th attack. And there does seem to
be a trend in the media to do this sort of thing today. But there are many
of us who love America and who feel that everything is NOT OK. Need I
mention the unnecessary Iraq war with all its Iraqi and American
casualities, the increasing divide between the rich and the poor, and the
tragedy in New Orleans which could have been alleviated with some planning
and foresight by our government?
I just needed to say to you that from my point of view, playing that record
was inappropriate, given where America is headed at this point. I fear for
our future.
But thank you so much for doing such a lovely program each week.
